PM Tarique Rahman Becomes First to Visit Bangladesh Army Summer Exercise

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made a historic visit to the Bangladesh Army’s Summer Exercise on Tuesday, becoming the first Prime Minister in the country’s history to personally visit a summer training area and spend an extended period with troops at the field level.

The Prime Minister arrived at the summer training area of 8 BIR under the 9 Infantry Division in Singair, Manikganj, where he toured the exercise area on foot and observed various aspects of the ongoing military training. During the visit, he received operational briefings from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and the Commanding Officer (CO), listened to a commander’s verbal operational order, and witnessed a live raid exercise conducted by participating troops.

He also inspected field bunkers, observed combat tactics and the use of military equipment, and interacted directly with officers and soldiers taking part in the exercise. In a rare gesture, the Prime Minister shared a meal and tea with the troops, expressing his appreciation for their dedication and service.

Addressing the soldiers, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman commended the Bangladesh Army for its professionalism, discipline, and significant contributions to national security and law enforcement. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the highest standards of operational readiness and extended his best wishes for the Army’s continued success in serving the nation.

The visit was attended by Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. A.K.M. Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Military Secretary to the Prime Minister Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq, and other senior Bangladesh Army officials.
