A Day of Honour and Pride at the Bangladesh Military Academy
The grounds of the Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) in Bhatiary were alight with precision, pride, and national significance today as the institution hosted its prestigious Presidential Parade. This momentous ceremony celebrated the formal commissioning of a new cohort of military leaders from the 89th BMA Long Course (LC) and the 60th BMA Special Course.
The event, which symbolizes the cadets’ transition from rigorous training to commissioned service, was attended by the Chief of Army Staff, General Waker-Uz-Zaman, SBP, OSP, SGP, PSC. General Waker-Uz-Zaman served as the chief guest, taking the salute from the immaculate graduating contingents and reviewing the spectacular parade. Highlighting the Army’s commitment to excellence, he also personally presented well-deserved awards to the top-performing cadets.





The New Faces of the Bangladesh Army
This year’s graduating class contributes vital new strength to the nation’s defence sector. A total of 184 cadets from the 89th BMA Long Course and 20 cadets from the 60th BMA Special Course successfully received their commissions. Notably, the new batch includes 183 male and 21 female commissioned officers, underscoring the growing opportunities for women in the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
Recognising Exceptional Excellence
The parade recognized extraordinary dedication and performance. Company Senior Under Officer Azmain Ishraq achieved the highest distinction, being awarded the highly coveted Sword of Honour as the best all-round cadet. His exemplary commitment to both field training and academics was further acknowledged with the Chief of Army Staff Gold Medal for academic excellence.
The solemn ceremony concluded with the graduating cadets taking their formal oath of commission, a profound promise to serve the Republic. The cherished BMA tradition of the rank-insignia ceremony followed, where proud parents and guardians pinned the new rank badges onto their sons’ and daughters’ shoulders—a poignant, humanizing moment that officially ushered the new officers into their professional lives.
