Bangladesh is observing Armed Forces Day 2025 today with solemn respect and deep gratitude. The day began at dawn with special prayers in all cantonments, naval bases, and air force installations, seeking the nation’s peace, progress, and the spiritual elevation of those who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War. On this national occasion, the President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, along with the Chief Adviser, issued commemorative messages acknowledging the legacy, dedication, and contributions of the military.

In the morning, the President and the Chief Adviser placed wreaths at the Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment to honour the fallen heroes of 1971. The Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force followed by offering floral tributes on behalf of their respective services. Later, the three service chiefs paid courtesy calls to the Chief Adviser at the Armed Forces Division and to the President at Bangabhaban, marking the day with traditional military protocol and national respect.

As part of the day’s programme, the Chief Adviser hosted a reception at the Army Multipurpose Complex in honour of decorated Freedom Fighters and their families. A total of 101 award recipients and heirs were presented with commemorative souvenirs. Senior officials from the armed forces, defence ministries, civil administration, diplomatic missions, judiciary, and distinguished national figures attended the ceremony, reflecting the day’s importance as a symbol of unity, sacrifice, and national commitment.
Receptions and commemorative events are also being held across cantonments and bases nationwide. To mark the occasion, specially decorated naval ships in Dhaka, Khulna, Chandpur, Barishal, and Chattogram are open to the public in the afternoon. Special television and radio programmes, including cultural and commemorative broadcasts, are being aired to highlight the significance of Armed Forces Day and the enduring role of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in national defence, peacekeeping, and humanitarian service.
