Dhaka, February 23, 2025 – The Interim Government of Bangladesh has officially declared February 25 as ‘Jatiyo Shahid Sena Dibosh’, classifying it as a Category ‘C’ National Day (without a public holiday).
The Cabinet Division issued an official gazette notification today, signed by Deputy Secretary Tania Afroze, outlining the decision. According to the directive, all relevant ministries, departments, and agencies have been instructed to observe this day appropriately.
The declaration commemorates the tragic events of February 25, 2009, when 74 people, including 57 army officers, were brutally killed in the Pilkhana massacre. Recognizing this day at the national level serves as a tribute to the sacrifice and bravery of the fallen soldiers.
This decision marks a significant step in honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in the line of duty.
