The Bangladesh Army has strongly refuted recent misleading reports published by certain Indian media outlets, including The Economic Times and India Today, regarding an alleged coup and disruption in the army’s command chain. These claims are entirely baseless and appear to be part of a coordinated disinformation campaign aimed at undermining Bangladesh’s stability and the reputation of its armed forces.
The Bangladesh Army remains unified, disciplined, and fully committed to its constitutional responsibilities under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff. The command structure is strong, and all officers and personnel are unwavering in their allegiance to the constitution and the people of Bangladesh. Any suggestion of internal discord is purely fictitious and malicious.
It is concerning that The Economic Times has a history of publishing similar unverified reports, including a previous false claim on January 26, 2025. Additionally, certain online platforms and television channels have amplified these misleading narratives, further fueling misinformation. Such irresponsible reporting not only damages diplomatic relations but also misleads the public.
The Bangladesh Army urges all media, especially those in India, to adhere to ethical journalism and verify information through official sources such as the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) before publishing. The ISPR remains open to providing accurate information to prevent the spread of falsehoods.
The Bangladesh Army stands firm in its duty to protect the sovereignty and security of the nation. It calls on all media outlets to act responsibly and avoid spreading misinformation that can create unnecessary panic and distrust.
